Anatomy of a Frame:

Lenses:  Composed of plastic or glass with or without prescription provide clear vision and protection for the eye.

Rims:  Sized appropriately to hold lenses in place maintaining the shape of the frame.

Bridge:  Centermost part of the frame, rests on your nose, joining the two rims together.

May be produced as a part of the frame or as removable pads to allow for maximum comfort and stability. 

Nose pad:  Evenly distributes the weight the frame places on your face. Mostly seen on metal frames.

Arm pads:  Adjustable arms extend from the rim to hold the nose pads in place.

Temples:  Arm length extending from either  side of the frame  over the ears.

End pieces:  Connect the lenses to the temples.

Hinges:  Connect the temples to the front of the frame to allow for an inward fold.

Screws:  Metal fasteners  connecting the end pieces to the temples.
